The Hispanic National Bar Association Holds Second Corporate Counsel Conference and 16th Annual National Moot Court Competition in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA. – The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) will hold its second Corporate Counsel Conference on March 9-12, 2011 in New Orleans, LA. “We are very proud to again host a signature event that brings together Corporate America and the HNBA. The HNBA’s 2011 Corporate Counsel Conference is a rare opportunity to showcase talented Hispanic lawyers to the in-house legal departments of major corporations as HNBA members present cutting-edge legal education courses to conference attendees. It is our sincere hope that business relationships develop between the in-house attorneys who attend and HNBA members as a result of this forum, created with in-house counsel in mind,” stated Diana Sen, HNBA President.

This year’s Corporate Counsel Conference will also provide members invaluable networking opportunities with in-house counsel from corporations such as Wal-mart Stores, Inc.; Verizon; Exxon Mobil; Nike; General Electric; Scripps Network, Inc.; Ebay; Target Corporation; Microsoft Corporation; Sempra Energy; Qwest; U-haul; Bank of America; Pitney Bowes; NBC and Cargill, among others.

The event, co-hosted by the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Louisiana, has the added bonus of happening in tandem with the HNBA’s 16th Annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition. Laws students comprised of teams from 32 top law schools in the nation annually compete in the competition. Members of the HNBA’s Judicial Council, comprised of prominent Hispanic judges from around the country, will serve as judges for this competition, including The Honorable Edward C. Prado (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit); The Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle (U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana); The Honorable Abdul K. Kallon (U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama); The Honorable Justice David Medina (Supreme Court of Texas) The Honorable Francisca Cota (Pheonix Municipal Court); among others.

The HNBA will present its moot court awards during its Gala Dinner on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Intercontinental Hotel. The HNBA will also recognize the recipients of the “2011 HNBA Top Lawyers Under Forty” awards at the closing Gala Dinner.
