Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer

North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System (NS-LIJ) based in Long Island, New York has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment efforts for a Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer.

Reporting to the System Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Michael Dowling, the Chief Legal Officer is a highly strategic, proactive attorney who is well versed in the dynamics and regulatory changes in the healthcare industry. She/He is innovative and entrepreneurial and someone who creates solutions that facilitate NS-LIJ’s system strategy to assure the success and growth of the organization. Working with the CEO and the legal and compliance teams, she/he will constantly be thinking of better ways to operate and how to structure these growth opportunities. She/He understands the opportunities available to the system in challenging assumptions and can devise new ways of doing business that advance what healthcare as an industry provides to patients.

The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials, a law degree from an ABA accredited school of law, membership in the State Bar of New York or eligibility for admission based on reciprocity is required and an outstanding record of achievement with at least ten (10) years of health care law experience gained in-house or through working closely with complex health care clients. Specific experience working in an integrated healthcare delivery system is preferred.
