MABAH’s Newly Licensed Attorney Reception
Nov. 17 | Houston, TX – The Mexican American Bar Association of Houston (MABAH), an HNBA affiliate, held its 2011 Annual Newly Licensed Attorney Reception to recognize and welcome newly licensed attorneys from throughout the Greater Houston area. In addition to the new attorneys, MABAH also honored Senior Texas District Court Judge A.D. Azios, the first Hispanic Judge elected in Harris County, Texas, and recognized the recent appointments of MABAH members: former Judge and now Harris County Commissioner R. Jack Cagle and Judge Debra Ibarra Mayfield, the first Hispanic female appointed to her Harris County Civil Court at Law bench. With over 180 guests in attendance, including 25 newly licensed attorneys, MABAH President Joe Matta congratulated the newly licensed attorneys, inviting them to join MABAH, and thanked MABAH’s distinguished honorees for their public service. MABAH’s special guest, Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman, delivered eloquent words of instructive advice to the newly licensed attorneys and paid tribute to the honorees. Other notable members of the judiciary who participated in the annual event include: U.S. District Court Judge Hilda Tagle, Texas District Court Judge David Mendoza, Texas District Court Judge Josefina Rendon, Texas District Court Judge A. Robert Hinojosa, Professor/Texas District Court Judge Lupe Salinas, and Justice of the Peace Armando Rodriguez.
