HNBA National President-Elect, Miguel A. Pozo

Miguel Alexander Pozo, Esq. is President-Elect of the Hispanic National Bar Association and a litigation partner at Lowenstein Sandler PC based in Roseland, New Jersey.

Mr. Pozo is a brand lawyer and a homegrown business litigation partner with more than 14 years of experience representing Fortune 500 corporations, businesses, and non-profit organizations in federal and state court litigation. His work includes counseling clients on trademark, fashion law, and brand protection issues as well as litigating matters involving business torts, contract disputes, employment litigation, and consumer fraud class actions.  Mr. Pozo specializes in representing clients in the high-end, luxury goods industry and has worked with some of the most recognizable brands in the industry, including LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Inc., TAG Heuer, Thomas Pink, and Cartier, among others.

Mr. Pozo’s work in the legal profession and in his community has earned him numerous honors and distinctions, including “2011 Professional Lawyer of the Year,” awarded by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law and two “Forty Under 40″ honors in 2009 awarded by the New Jersey Law Journal and NJBiz magazine. Miguel was also included on Latin Trends magazine’s 2009 “Latino Trendsetters” list. His other honors include the Boy Scouts of America’s “Scouting…Vale La Pena!” award and Essence magazine’s 2008 “Do Right Man” award, which recognized 50 men from across the country for their achievements and commitment to community service.

Mr. Pozo has been an active leader in the HNBA and has served on its Board of Governors since 2004.  Most recently, he served a one-year term as HNBA National Finance Director (2011-12). In that position, he was responsible for chairing the HNBA’s National Finance Committee, a team lawyers from across the country charged with ensuring the financial viability and sustainability of the HNBA.

Mr. Pozo was also Co-chair of the 2012 HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference and 17th Annual Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition, held in Jersey City, New Jersey, in March 2012.  The record-breaking conference drew some 800 attendees and helped commemorate  the HNBA’s 40th anniversary. Additionally, Mr. Pozo served for four years as the HNBA Regional President for New Jersey – Region III (2008-2011).

Mr. Pozo earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark, where he was Managing Editor of Rutgers Race and the Law Review, and his B.A. from Hofstra University.
