HNBA Legislative & Governmental Affairs Committee Seeks Volunteers for Advocacy Summit

The HNBA Legislative & Governmental Affairs Committee is currently preparing for the HNBA Advocacy and Law Day events in Washington, D.C. May 8-10, 2012. Celeste Villarreal, Vice President of External Affairs, is working with HNBA President Benny Agosto, the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C. and the HNBA staff to ensure a successful event. Planning meetings are taking place at an accelerated pace, and a webinar will be held closer to the event dates to review HNBA policy positions and talking points to educate and prepare committee volunteers before we meet with Senators and Congressmen in May. Committee members currently include Lulu Flores, Gloria Leal, Liz Lopez and Teresita Chavez Pedrosa, and others pending. If you are interested in the legislative process and will be able to come to D.C. in May to assist with our important advocacy work, please contact Celeste Villarreal at to volunteer to serve on the committee. It is critical that we have representation from all regions and affiliates in order to communicate a strong, unified message that is reflective of our members across the country.
