Commission on Latinas in the Legal Profession

The Latina Commission was created to study the status of Latina lawyers in the profession. Since conducting its 2009 and 2010 national studies, the Commission has worked to implement the recommendations of the studies by instituting programming that couples education, mentorship and sponsorship. The studies confirmed Latina lawyers encounter, and must overcome, a multi-layered ceiling based on the intersection of gender, ethnicity and race, coupled with family obligations and discrimination- often from our own peers.
