Endorsement Committees

Executive Endorsements

This Committee vets lawyers interested in federal executive appointments and make recommendations for endorsements to the Board of Governors. The Committee conducts its activities pursuant to an HNBA’s “ Policies and Procedures Governing Executive Endorsements” adopted by the HNBA Board of Governors on September 3, 2008 . The Committee does not endorse candidates – the Board of Governors must vote on all endorsements except those made pursuant to written expedited procedures approved by the Board. The work of the Committee is conducted pursuant to strict confidentiality rules and each Committee member is required to sign a written confidentiality agreement. The Executive Endorsements Committee is composed of HNBA members from across the country and both major political parties.

Judiciary Committee

The Judiciary Committee vets all judicial candidates who request the HNBA’s endorsement and makes recommendations concerning requested endorsements to the Board of Governors. The Committee conducts its activities pursuant to the HNBA’s “Policies and Procedures Governing Judicial Endorsements” adopted by the Board of Governors in 2002. The Committee does not endorse judicial candidates – the Board of Governors must vote on all endorsements except those made pursuant to the expedited procedures specified in the referenced Policies and Procedures. The work of the Committee is conducted pursuant to strict confidentiality rules and each Committee member is required to sign a written confidentiality agreement. The Judiciary Committee is composed of HNBA members from across the U.S. who have demonstrated interest, experience and expertise in the judicial selection process.
