Top Lawyers Under 40 Award
Introduction
The HNBA’s “Top Lawyers Under Forty” Award celebrates and highlights the accomplishments and contributions of younger HNBA members who have distinguished themselves professionally. The Award honors lawyers who have demonstrated professional excellence, integrity, leadership and commitment to the legal and Latino community. HNBA members from all segments of the profession (including private practice, government, public interest, academia, and corporate legal departments) are eligible for the Award.
Eligibility Criteria
- As of the date of nomination, each Nominee must (i) be an HNBA member in good standing; (ii) be a duly licensed attorney in good standing in at least one jurisdiction and (ii) have no disciplinary action pending or adjudicated against him or her. In addition, the nominee must be under 40 years old as of December 31, 2009.
- The person making the nomination (the Nominator) must also be an HNBA member in good standing when he or she makes the nomination. Self-nominations will not be considered.
- NOT eligible for the Award: Members of HNBA Board of Governors (including HNBA Officers, HNBA Regional Presidents, and Deputy Regional Presidents), members of the Board of Directors of HNBA Affiliate Bar Associations, and members of the HNBA Staff.
Nomination Process and Deadline
Please complete the HNBA 2010 Top Lawyers Under Forty Award Nomination Form for each person you want to nominate and e-mail it, along with the Nominee’s résumé and/or biography to HNBAUnder40@gmail.com by 6:00 p.m. EST on Monday, December 14th, 2009. You may also include up to two recommendation letters (limited to 350 words or less each), but the letters are OPTIONAL. All nominations will remain confidential absent the express consent of the nominator and the nominee. Only Award recipients will be notified.
Selection Process and Presentation of Awards
A committee appointed by HNBA National President Román D. Hernández and composed of two HNBA Officers, one HNBA Regional President, one HNBA Affiliate leader and one HNBA member at large will review all nominations and recommend recipients to the HNBA Executive Committee. The HNBA Executive Committee will confirm all Committee recommendations absent serious cause to do otherwise. Award recipients will be announced on Monday, January 18th, 2010. There is no limit to the number of awardees. Awards will be presented at the 2010 HNBA Mid-Year Conference in San Diego, California during the Gala Dinner on March 6, 2010. Award recipients will be profiled on the HNBA website and in one or more HNBA publications.
