Practice, Educational Background and Service to the Community
I have served as President of the NY Region of the HNBA for the past year. As Regional President of the NY Region, I will continue to work with members of the region to build on our past successes and continue to provide support for each other in our professional endeavors. I also plan to organize activities to assist members with professional development, volunteer opportunities, business growth and job searches in the current challenging job market. As Regional President, I will work with attorneys in the NY region to advocate for issues that are important to our community and to seek to affect positive change and diversity within the legal community.
For the past four years, I have been an in-house attorney at Weill Cornell Medical College (“Cornell”), where my practice focuses on health law and general corporate matters. Prior to working at Cornell, I was a Legislative Attorney for the New York City Council, the legislative branch of New York City government. In that capacity, I drafted local laws and organized public hearings in the areas of public health and education. I have also worked as a Corporate Finance Attorney at Chadbourne & Parke, LLP and clerked for the Honorable Audrey B. Collins of the Central District of California.
I received a JD from New York University School of Law, an MA in Public and International Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University and a BA from New York University. While in law school, I was chair of the Latino/a Law Students Association (LALSA). I also interned at the Legal Aid Society of New York, Bronx Juvenile Rights Division, interned at the Rigoberta Menchu Tum Foundation in Mexico City, taught law to NYC high school students and received a scholarship from the Puerto Rican Bar Association. Prior to attending law school, I worked as a Training Coordinator for the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families and served as a NYC Urban Fellow.
I am currently a member in good standing of the Hispanic National Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. I have served as President of the New York Region of the HNBA, Co-Chair of the Job Fair Committee for the HNBA Annual Conference in NYC, Co-Chair of the HNBA New York Region Mentoring Program and as First Vice President of the NYU School of Law Black, Latino and Asian Pacific Alumni Association (BLAPA).
I believe that these experiences equip me with the skills to effectively serve as Regional President-NY Region.
I Ask for Your Vote for Regional President- NY Region
As a student member of the HNBA during law school, I benefited tremendously from the relationships and opportunities that the HNBA made possible and I look forward to working to continue to make those relationships and opportunities available to Latino/a law students.
