Commercial & Regulatory Attorney, Associate Director – 112756BR

This Associate Director position in the Legal Department is to provide a wide variety of legal services and counsel to the management and employees of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation with a particular focus on counseling, negotiating and drafting transactional and commercial agreements. Varying additional legal responsibilities relating to the business functions including the review of promotional materials for products is also required. Some travel, including international travel, may be required. Responsibilities include:

- Representing the company in its dealings with vendors, business partners, competitors, and customers.

- Handling a broad range of commercial and transactional matters and engaging in counseling, negotiation, document drafting and review.

- Interfacing with other Novartis Group Companies as appropriate.

- Advising in connection with product advertising and promotional activities.

- Providing timely and accurate legal advice to internal business stakeholders.

Qualified candidates will have;
Strong academic credentials, including Juris Doctorate. Admission to State Bar in at least one State. Five to eight years of legal experience in an established law firm or in-house legal department organization. Substantial expertise and experience in negotiating and drafting agreements, including confidentiality agreements, licensing agreements, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, research agreements, co-promotional agreements and/or other commercial or transactional agreements. Strong working knowledge of antitrust, contract law, UCC and other relevant areas. Excellent organizational, analytic and communications skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to proactively identify issues and find creative solutions. Broad knowledge of pharmaceuticals industry and FDA regulations desirable. Experience in reviewing pharmaceutical advertising and promotional materials desirable. English Demonstrated leadership. Ability to exercise sound and decisive judgment. Emphasis on follow-through, and quality-results-driven orientation. Integrity and unquestionable ethics. Effective presentation capabilities and interpersonal skills. Client-relation skills. Ability to manage direct and in-direct teams of individuals on complex projects.
