Christina Vigil is the Executive Director of the New Mexico Women’s Justice Project, a non-profit organization that seeks to eliminate a broad range of systemic barriers to social, economic and political justice faced by women, girls and their families in New Mexico. The Project is dedicated to improving the lives of women and children who have been affected by poverty, addiction, mental illness, and the trauma of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse through research, policy development, education, and direct action for change.
In addition, Christina is the owner and managing attorney of a law office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Law Office of Christina A. Vigil specializes in a variety of employment law related matters, including administrative discrimination claims, state and federal personnel issues, and litigation claims in federal and state court. Christina also represents clients in personal injury, wrongful death, and civil and constitutional rights cases.
Christina serves as Regional President for Region XV of the Hispanic National Bar Association and as a member of the HNBA National Mentoring Program Committee. She is also chairperson of the Education and Mentorship committee in New Mexico. She was also appointed as an attorney member of the University of New Mexico School of Law Pipeline Committee.
Christina graduated from the University of New Mexico with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and Spanish. She obtained her Juris Doctorate at the University of New Mexico School of Law. She studied abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico at the Spanish Language Institute and as an exchange student of the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey. Additionally, Christina worked as a volunteer and community advocate in impoverished villages and communities in the Dominican Republic.
