May 14, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) as well as the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and the Mexican American Bar Association, both HNBA affiliates, will join Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) in Dallas, TX to call attention to the bi-partisan and wide spread support for Sarah Saldaña, a candidate for the position of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.  The HNBA will be represented at the conference by Benny Agosto, Jr., Co-Editor, Hispanic National Bar Association Journal of Law and Policy (HNBA).  “HNBA endorsed Ms. Saldaña for this position because she is an exemplary attorney and has the ability to lead the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas with distinction,” said Román D. Hernández, HNBA National President.  “We call on President Obama to consider her for the position that has been vacant for more than a year,” added President Hernández.

For the last 25 years, Ms. Saldaña has distinguished herself as an exceptional litigator and prosecutor in the private and public sector. Ms. Saldaña currently serves as the Deputy Criminal Chief in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, where she has prosecuted a variety of criminal cases on behalf of the United States.
